Apple River Fort State Historic Site


Welcome to the Apple River Fort State Historic Site. Nestled in the rolling hills of northwest Illinois, the Apple River Fort stands against the weather to tell an epic historic tale. Located in Elizabeth, Illinois, the Fort shares its story through living history programs from May through October. The daily tasks of early pioneers come to life through engaging historical interpreters.
